Indie pick: Red Warrior : Assassin for the thieves world

"One of Amano's best works to date... One of Image's best graphic novels this year."
- IGN

dont know which year its published but, found out about beckett entertainment from this book. Beckett was sold in 05 to Apprise Media and was left without a publisher/distributer. so they made a deal with Image comics and was allowed retain their editorial and creative independence and focuses on original graphic novels than monthly issues. Sounds great so far from a biased graphic novel reader point of view. also found out, Jeff Amano, the writer for today's indie pick was president of Beckett Entertainment Partners till 08. so lets dive into this book with high expectations.

was recommended to the book by a great friend who enjoys his indie stories. i kept pushing the book as last min priority due to its simple graphic design and low budget printing (it had gloss print for the title and the skull graphic. very indonesian). So it starts off with Tolik Kalinichenko, an agent for russia/america who investigates and crime scene and realizes that it was commited by russian people due russians strange traditions of attacking using a sand-castle-making-spade. and then when he find the killer, he has superpowers!

just like him! the bad guys hits him with a hadouken. and Tolik absorbs it and reflects it killing 1st baddie. then his father figure agent calls him on a big project. mission: seduce girl to get her to tell u all you need to take down baddie. and blame it all on being for the good of mother russia. and now the fucked up part. they fall in love.

like how can u fall in love on the 1st meeting on a person who you hardly even know? so girl goes undercover and they keep getting mushy mushy that it just seems retarded. Action was great and there was enough interesting dialog to keep me interested. overall a fast read and would leave you wanting more. the spine on the book says vol1. so you never know.

googling doesnt give me any images. and i didnt take any shots of the book. so trust me that the black/white art is good enough!

it also includes a preview of another beckett title, ruule, kiss and tell. i did not make the typo.
